Sun Shines on Winter Wonderland

As the whole of Scotland is gripped in this Arctic freeze we have wrapped up warm in an attempt to keep going at all costs.

One of the best things about living and working in Kintyre is the temperate climate, although it is below freezing at the moment we are still so much better off than the rest of the country. Yesterday we had all of 2 inches of snow and we thought that was a lot!! When I see the rest of Scotland, where many of our dearest visitors live, I can't help but feel thankful that we are so lucky here at Point Sands.

Travelling up the road to Tarbert on Saturday night, a mere 18 mile journey the difference in temperature was a blinding 9 degrees lower – it was freezing! Literally!

Predictably our contractors for our new water system are still stuck in the Borders, they left the depot en route to us yesterday and returned to depot after 5 hours having journeyed a massive 15 miles! The pressure was already on to complete the water project on time but these extreme conditions are really fraying everyone's nerves!

Kenneth, our resident joiner and his son have been working in blizzard conditions to complete decking projects and the first one is nearly complete.

Angus has already fixed many burst pipes around the park and we have an elaborate system of mobile water bowsers and petrol fuelled pumps to keep water flowing into our own house whilst the rest of the park remains frozen.

Plenty of homemade soup is on hand in the kitchen to keep the guys warm..we will keep up the pressure to get the work done.
